GRAPHIC DESIGNER

AAPF is seeking an enthusiastic Graphic Designer to join our team! This position is a full-time remote role with a likely transition into an in-office role in AAPF’s New York office. Reporting to the Arts & Media Director, and working closely with other senior leaders, the Graphic Designer will provide graphic design support across AAPF’s programming to produce high quality materials for print, webpage, and social media platforms.

Founded in 1996, The African American Policy Forum (AAPF) is an innovative think tank that connects academics, activists, and policy-makers to promote efforts to dismantle structural inequality. We utilize new ideas and innovative perspectives to transform public discourse and policy. We promote frameworks and strategies that address a vision of racial justice that embraces the intersections of race, gender, class, and the array of barriers that disempower those who are marginalized in society. AAPF is dedicated to advancing and expanding racial justice, gender equality, and the indivisibility of all human rights, both in the U.S. and internationally.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing concepts, graphics and layouts for organizational reports, social media campaigns, event flyers, merchandise, and more;

  • Reviewing graphic assets from other AAPF team members, and suggesting improvements when needed;

  • Liaising with printers when necessary to ensure deadlines are met and material is printed to the highest quality;

  • Creating still and moving graphics for organizational videos;

  • Working with Intersectionality Matters! team to develop a podcast logo and social media headers;

  • Fine Tuning and implementing organization-wide branding strategy;

  • Maintaining website by updating graphics and videos;

  • Supervising Arts and Media volunteers and interns;

The Ideal Candidate should have:

  • Familiarity with AAPF programs and initiatives;

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite;

  • Mastery in Adobe Audition, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro;

  • 5+ years of professional graphic design experience.

Salary range $50,000-$60,000, commensurate with experience.
